Let’s celebrate our exceptional Educators of the Year at Carthage R-9 School District! Over the next few days, we’ll shine a spotlight on these inspiring teachers who are shaping the future of our community.

Give a round of applause to Sara Mendell, the 2025 Tiger Excellence Award Winner for Grades 7–8! Sara creates an inclusive, supportive, and engaging science classroom where every student—regardless of background, language, or ability—can thrive. Her students say she listens, cares deeply, and helps them grow not only academically but personally.

Beyond the classroom, Mrs. Mendell also coaches track and cross country, mentoring students on and off the field. She is a role model to colleagues, a compassionate leader, and a teacher who makes science fun and meaningful for all.
